About Capel Swn y Mor

Capel Swn y Mor is a stunning conversion of a Victorian chapel set right on the seafront at Amroth with the beach across the road and magnificent views over the beach and Carmarthen Bay.

A flight of steps lead up to the entrance, step into the tiled light and airy open plan living space furnished in a contemporary, yet comfortable style. Enjoy meals or relax on the leather sofas while you look out to sea. The original, tall arched windows have been restored to really maximise the view, French doors lead out to a balcony where you can dine al fresco while you gaze out to sea or watch the children play on the beach below.

Open tread stairs lead up to the galleried landing, bedrooms and bathroom above with restored original beams and wooden floors adding to the character, the 2 double bedrooms both have stunning views overlooking the water, enjoy leisurely lie-ins, when the tide is in it feels almost like you could be at sea. If you can bear to leave the balcony there is a selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants within walking distance and a seasonal shop along the seafront in Amroth.

Join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path on your doorstep to explore this beautiful coastline, over the headland lies Wiseman’s Bridge where you can enjoy a meal at the beachside pub before the journey home or a little further on through the tunnels, Coppet Hall, and the highly recommended Coast Restaurant and Saundersfoot’s bustling seaside village, with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops, take a fishing trip from here or continue onto the historical town of Tenby. A visit to Colby Woodland Gardens nearby should not be missed, particularly enjoying the colourful displays of Rhododendrons, Azaleas and woodland walks. To the east lies the rest of the sandy Amroth Beach leading to Marros Sands. The miles and miles of sandy beaches make this the perfect spot for boating and water sports enthusiasts.

A wonderful holiday home that you will just not want to leave and is sure to become a firm favourite.

NB. There is limited/occasional access via the stairs to the side of the property to the small, disused burial ground at the rear by those connected to the memorials. This does form part of the grounds of Capel Swn y Mor and you are welcome to access it, climb the steps to the top and the view is breathtaking.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful property. We have had a lovely refreshing weekend here so comfy and perfectly set on the beach which we have enjoyed everyday. The children thoroughly enjoyed making sand castles and then running back up to the balcony to watch the tide come in. Cannot wait to return. Stunning place to visit.

Our week here could only be described as delightful and we very much hope to return. Sue, John & Spot the dog

Following the Welsh "firebreak" it was great to "escape" to Amroth after being cooped up in Cardiff, and what a treat to stay at your lovely chapel. Could not fault accommodation, facilities and location. Our daughter and grandson from Cardiff visited over the weekend and we were all very impressed. A great time had by us all, and our spirits lifted!!

Marion & Millie

A perfect place to relax after a stressful few months. Everything was very clean. The brass bed very comfortable. Stunning views from the balcony and bedroom, and so relaxing to listen to the sounds of the sea. Perfect weather for the time of year, I enjoyed many walks along the beach with my dog ‘Millie’. Loved the Aga and butchers block, and all the paintings. Just wish it had been available for longer. Thank you for the wine and welsh cakes.

Marko, Wendy, Zac & Tom

This is our 11th year in Amroth, but 1st time in your wonderful house. We loved the welcome gifts, the house is so cosy and the views from the balcony are stunning. We've had wonderful weather bar 1 day, so lots of swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. We experienced the whitebait phenomenon coming up to the rocks so collected them in a sieve and cooked - can't get fresher! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home xxx

Sue, Paul, Holly, Nathan & Caitlyn

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed every bit of it. Had a varying mix of weather. The time has flown by and we have loved every part of this holiday! Thank you!!!

Ella, Lottie, Greg, Claire, Nanna and Grandad

This is our THIRD time here and the best visit yet. The views from the balcony are amazing! The paintings are great and Capel Swn y Mor is very cosy. The time flew by and we are sad to go but we have some lovely memories, like crabbing and watching 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'! We had lots of ice creams from Pirate Cafe, fish 'n' chips, we went swimming and jumped off the groins when the tide was in. We saw our cousins who are in Saundersfoot (there are lots of nice things to do like shopping and eating at Coast) and we had a BBQ. So we had a lovely time! Thank you!

Cathy & Tony

Our second visit here and recommend this week as we got to witness the NY day’s swim! Crazy but great to see and raises money for the RNLI. Loved it here as much as last time. View is simply wonderful. Excellent location. Amroth Arms food is very good but also New Inn down the road. We’ll be back :)

A perfect location, stunning chapel conversion – fantastic! Ran out of superlatives! Ever-changing view from balcony and windows, and a pub (super food!) just 6 houses away – what more could anyone need? Walked everywhere at low tide and on coast path – heaven leaving the car behind! Without doubt, the best house in Amroth! We waited 2 years to be able to stay here after a recommendation from our friends – it was worth it! Thank you Isobel & Leighton for sharing your lovely home, and for the best welcome pack we have seen! :)

An amazing conversion into a delightful home. Superb location - stunning views! Must appreciated was the Welsh welcome - simply the best start possible to a short (too short) holiday. Thank you Isobel and Leighton for sharing your lovely home. Fully equipped, well equipped kitchen - truly a home from home. A home made with taste and love. A wet but wonderful week in West Wales. To be enjoyed again.

Liz, Harriet, Charlie and Hilda.

Fantastic location and lovely house. Would recommend days out to Stakpole (Barafundle bay and the lilypods were lovely) and to St Davids. Food at the New Inn was lovely and just down the road! Favourite part of the house was definitely the balcony and would love to come back. Thank you.

Polly, Mike, Dan, Jim and Clare.

We love the beach and the pirate cave. We found the kite on the beach and have left it for the next people to play with. I love the sea because I karate kick the waves.

The Climers

We have had a fabulous holiday here in Amroth. The Chapel was beautiful and all of the rooms felt very homely. The painting on the walls and incredible and really add to the atmosphere inside the Chapel. Walking up to that view every morning was so lovely and we will definitely miss the sound of the waves whilst we sleep. We spent our day on the beach and walking to Saundersfoot for boat trips. It was also lovely just to sit on the balcony and let the world go by. This is truly a special place and we will miss it very much. Hope everyone else has a wonderful time here.

John, Jo-Ann, Jake and George

Well what can you say. From the moment of walking in - we knew that we had truly fallen on our feet. The welcome tray was so appreciated, in what is the most magical place we have ever stayed. We want to bottle the moments we have spent on the balcony, looking out to the different scenes with the ever changing tide. You could never tire of that view. Everyone here is so welcoming, have spent nights in the Amroth and in the New Inn, with much hospitality. We went on the sea safari to Skomer and Skokholm island, seeing puffins, porpoises and seals. Love Wisemans Bridge, Saundersfoot and Tenby. So sad to leave. Thank you both for allowing us to have this escapism.

Gary and Lynne, Jed and Eve

Will definitely be back and will recommend this house to all our friends! xx

John & Sue

When we booked Capel Swn Y Mor we knew it was going to be special, and we were not disappointed! A truly magical place with such wonderful views that were always changing! The house is so comfortable, well equipped and clean. Bathrooms sparkly & shining with plenty of hot water. We walked to Wisemans Bridge then onto Saundersfoot via the tunnels then back along the beach; we walked the coast from Stackpole Quay via Barafundle Bay and onto the lily ponds at Bosherston and back. We swam in the sea and walked the beach several times at the end of each day. We ate at the Amroth Arms most nights and had delicious food. We shall miss the sea views when heading home; especially at night with all the twinkly lights shining on the sea from Saundersfoot. Thank you so much for a perfect stay - we will be back :)

The Jarmans

A really magical place - helped by having brilliant weather! Went on the Dale Sea Safari to Skokholm and Skomer - saw lots of puffins (didn't land on island, but plenty to see from the boat) - also Stackpole, Tenby all worth a visit. Ate out at 'Coast' in Saundersfoot - lovely 'fine dining' - food also good at Mulberry in Saundersfoot and the pub at Wisemans Bridge. Loved the light and airy feel of the chapel - I was worried it might feel a bit austere from the photos on the website - but it was actually really comfy - fantastic to go to sleep to the sound of the sea.

The Fells

We have enjoyed our stay tremendously. A perfect peaceful setting and wonderful property. We couldn't have asked for anything more. A perfect base to explore the area and to visit family and friends near and far in Wales. For surfing we enjoyed Freshwater West, and great fish and chips in Saundersfoot. We hope to visit again!

Ivan, Christine, Hannah, Lance, Holly & Mark

Sarah, Ben, James, Charlie & baby Ted

We have been so lucky with the weather for our half term break! The house is just perfect with everything here you could need. Much time enjoyed sat on balcony - one evening we even saw a seal popping his head up close to the shore for a while! The grown ups enjoyed runs along the coastal path to Saundersfoot - you can also get a pushchair along there if needed - just avoid the steps at the start, head up the hill and follow the no. 4 cycle paths for a bit instead! Colby woodland garden is beautiful, and is a nice walk up the path behind the Amroth Arms. A great week, thank you for our lovely welcome pack. We hope to come back again! x

Lisa & Steve Wilson

The place is just as special as it was 2 years ago. We had a fantastic week, loved the storms. It was a wonderful and welcome break. We were here 2 years ago at the same time, thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful home. We will be back and we are now thinking of moving into the area in a few years. Can't wait until we come back.

Trevor, Sarah, Sophie, Emily & Jack the dog

Wow!! What a view! We could look at that view all day long and never tire of it! Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home and thank you for the flowers and wine and the welsh cakes - a lovely welcome! It was hard to do anything other than walk the dog on Amroth's fabulous beach (dogs allowed on the beach to right of shops all year) and wallow in the view from the balcony (i.e. difficult to better!) but we enjoyed walking from Stackpole Quay, over Barafundle Bay, and on to the headland, the lily lakes at Bosherston, had our last meal at Coast, Saundersfoot - outstanding! Good meal too at Stackpole Inn - especially their fresh fish. We will definitely be back soon to Capel Swn Y Mor! Loved it!

Anne, Dave, Pete & Ann

Isobel and Leighton - you have an amazing home. Thank you for sharing it! A very special family holiday, 1st one with our Grandson. Thank you for making William welcome and going out of your way to buy a new highchair :) We all loved the balcony overlooking the sea, despite a couple of rough weather days - we enjoyed the sun and drinks! (on a few days). William enjoyed waving to everyone!! The property is AMAZING - we loved it and will return ASAP (if you are still sharing it). We managed to walk Meg on dog friendly beaches (recommend walking to Wisemans Bridge, Penally to Tenby, Barafundle adjacent to Stackpole Quay) - to name but a few. Amroth Arms serves delicious jug of Pimms for £10 between 5pm-6pm (sampled with my daughter in law on Friday :)). Great facilities, well equipped, lots of lovely touches, and thank you soooo much for the welcome pack. You are great hosts. Love Anne xx

Mark, Kate, Tom, Sophie, Sam & Stephen (Grandad)

We have had the most lovely holiday at your beautiful chapel, a really lovely and spacious place to stay - a real treat for us being so close to the sea. The beautiful beach and wonderful weather made it even better! The balcony allowed us to enjoy the beach at all times of the day. If we can afford it we will definitely be back soon. We really enjoyed body boarding, sandcastle building, Caldey Island, St Catherine's fort and a family paddle board lesson at Saundersfoot. The chapel is great, thank you for sharing it with us! P.S. Liam's pictures are truly stunning!! I will definitely check out the website

Thank you for the warm welcome. Had 2 great weeks at the perfect Cottage!

Claire, Greg, Ella, Lottie , Ryan, Nanna & Grandad

What a wonderful holiday house. Still as amazing and perfect as our last visit. Looking on the balcony we could just about see Tenby and most of Saundersfoot, the views were just outstanding. Mum, Dad, Nanna and Granddad liked to have a drink outside (on the nice evenings, we had a variety of weather, but that didn't stop us from having a fantastic holiday) whilst Lottie and I lay in bed, listening to the tranquil sound of the waves, and the chatty seagulls in the morning was nice! The interior design was lovely - very modern too. Also, the artwork was brilliant! We would love to have them in our house! Days out (like the seal safari in Tenby and National Trust Colby Woods) and spending time on the beach kept us occupied, the time flew by! Thank you for a wonderful holiday.Would love to come back (again)! xx

We know North and West Pembrokeshire very well indeed so it was great to see new places and do new walks-from around Amroth, Stackpole and Bosherston, Marloes Sands and Wooltack Head. Very comfortable place and fabulous shower with plenty of oomph! Much needed after a days walking. very welcome treats on arrival too: tea and welshcakes sitting in the sun on the balcony was the perfect end to a long days drive.

What a perfect week- beautiful weather, beautiful house, beautiful scenery! We have really enjoyed everything about our stay. Such great walks and runs and the best balcony spot to sit in the sunshine and enjoy the view whilst relaxing. Amroth is stunning- what a talented son you have. Thank-you so much x

Hilary and Gary

It has the wow factor. So warm, comfortable and very clean. With fantastic view. Weather has been mixed, but has not spoiled our holiday thanks to you. We recommend a visit to Bosherston lily ponds and Stackpole Quay. Colby gardens are also very good. St.Davids cathedral and of course Tenby. Amroth Arms in excellent for food, and on the holidays when they don't do food, the New Inn is also good. thank-you

Martin, Sue and Minnie

The house was fab and so clean! Great week and the weather helped! one day when it rained all day, we izzed about and walked the dog on the beach and managed to dry our wet clothes in the airing cupboard. We walked up to the new Inn and had dinner one night. (Dog friendly in the bar area). Second day, we walked the coast path Amroth to Wisemans Bridge, stopping for a coffee, then walked on over to Saundersfoot via the path.

Tina and Mick, Hereford

Our second visit to Capel Swn y Mor and despite the terrible weather all week, we still had a good time. We visited Fishguard and St Davids which are well worth a visit. We had a lovely lunch at the beach restaurant on South beach which is dog friendly. Thank-you so much for the wine and flowers we will be back soon, maybe in the summer this time.

Gary and Kirsty, Leicester

We have had a lovely time relaxing, walking along the beach and exploring. The house is fantastic with beautiful views and everything we needed. It has been the perfect place to spend our honeymoon X

Parry Family

We've had a fantastic week here at such a lovely property with amazing views. Thanks so much for wine and flowers etc. on arrival. We loved the beach, 'Coast' restaurant, Tenby and the N. T. Colby Walled Gardens. Many thanks!

Keith and Clarissa Norrington-owen

The view from the balcony is stunning and we loved all aspects of the chapel, including the art work and modern facilities. Wonderful walks and great food at New Inn. The beach is amazing and we can't believe how empty and unspolit it is. For people who enjoy a longer walk, Pendine from here has to be done.

Barnston Family

What a truly amazing place to stay. We felt like we were on a boat when the tide was in! The kids spent everyday on the beach, crabbing and body boarding. Recommend the coastal path walk into Saundersfoot and a visit to Colby woodland gardens. We loved the balcony, great place to watch the world pass by. Good coffee served in Pirate Cafe and superb food at Coast (Saundersfoot). We shared 'our' beach with a handful of people. Thank-you for a fab week

The Breziers

The house was fab and so clean! Great week and the weather helped! One day when it rained all day we lazed about and walked the dog on the beach and managed to dry our clothes in the airing cupboard. We walked up to the New Inn and had dinner one night (dog friendly in the bar area). second day we walked the coast path Amroth to Wisemans Bridge, stopped for a coffee then walked over to Saundersfoot via tunnel. Pitstop on coppet hall beach (dog friendly) and then lunch in Saundersfoot. First time in Pembrokeshire and it certainly won't be our last! Lovely places to walk and see plus a lovely home!

The Arnolds

Thank-you for restoring this building to a wonderful holiday home. We have loved the view of the sea and the sound of the waves- even if the grey clouds and rain came more than we could have chosen! We really enjoyed the beach, Colby and had good days out at Pembroke Castle and Stackpole. The airing cupboard was a brilliant addition for drying soaking wet coats and welly boots!

Steve, Natalie and Izzy

Brilliant, warming and comfortable house, thank-you for allowing us to use it over this weekend. Fantastic base to explore the coast. Wet and windy walks on the beach were brilliant. Loved every minute if our stay, definitely come again. Thank-you

We have had a lovely week wandering up and down the beach. The house was fantastic. Just the break we needed to recharge our batteries. Thank-you

Pete, Carol and Millie

We had a lovely time at Capel swn y mor, lovely beaches and a great place to explore. We had a fabulous meal at the salt cellar in Tenby and at a deli called Ultracomida in Narbeth. Thank-you!

Alison and Lawrence

Had a lovely off-season break at this very special 'house'. Sunshine for just 3 or 4 days giving us the opportunity for some excellent walks on the coastal path from Amroth to Freshwater East. Windy and cold therefor sat and watched the sea doing it's thing- exhilarating! Will definitely recommend this as a wonderful place to stay and plan to return ourselves perhaps in the Autumn..

D.P Magill + Dog

Again we return, can't say much more. Beautiful, lovely place, everything you need. Sun out every day. Sea calm and the beach was empty. Lovely to walk on

Jan, Sue and Jack Bickley

Beauty is evident in every aspect of the home- the design, furnishings and equipment's. The location is obviously spectaculous. A truly lovely few days in a super property- all rounded off with 'the best' food at the Salt Cellar in Tenby. Thank-you

Annie and Louise

Thank-you for a lovely time, we thoroughly enjoyed the views from the balcony. It was a treat to listen to the waves whilst you fell asleep. Not only was it great to enjoy the sea from the coastal paths, it was even more exhilarating taking a dip one afternoon! A great base to explore this beautiful county from a warming bathtub to continue the days relaxation.

Jones family

We've had a fabulous holiday- didn't want to leave. Great cottage, great location, amazing balcony and view! Comfy beds and fast wifi- everyones happy :) Had fantastic weather too, so spent most of the week enjoying walks on the beach/ coastal path and watching the world go by with a glass of wine from our balcony. Hardly used the car at all. A very relaxing break, we hope to return sometime to enjoy it all again. Many thanks for the wine/ welsh cakes etc much appreciated.

Carol and Declan

We have loved the chapel of the sun and sea. It's a beautiful holiday home in a truly blessed location. Breakfast on the balcony in the sunshine watching the world go by was lovely! Hope to return.

Mark and Sarah Probat

What a fantastic short break-too short in fact. We would have loved to stay another week and plenty of things to do in the area to fill our time. Day 1 was taken over by one of dads fantastic adventure walks all the way to Saundersfoot via Wiseman's Bridge. Through the tunnels is great fun and worth an 'ogi, ogi, ogi!'. Day 2 was Pendine sands in the morning which is awesome in itself then Sunday lunch at 'Billycan's Pub' Tenby which is highly recommended.

Steve & Lisa Wilson

We've had a fantastic week and have seen the bay in all it's moods - stormy for the first part of the week and then calm and sunny. We have loved exploring the area and we will be back. Thanks for letting us stay and we hope to return. All the best Steve & Lisa

Howard & Julie Palin

We've had a superb holiday, the weather has been very kind - warm + sunny. Lots of walking and discovering Amroth, Colby Woodland gardens, Tenby, Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot, we didn't use the car all week. Enjoyed a drink in the Amroth Arms, very friendly and the takeaway Thai from Temple Bar was very nice indeed. Thank you so much Isobel and Leighton for letting us share your home, it's stunning, beautifully decked out with views to die for! The best welcome pack we have ever received, an added bonus to start our holiday :) Thanks Again
